Booking with confidence
Cancellation & refund policy
Updated September 30, 2026
Before you pay
For direct bookings with Edison China Journeys, we agree the specific payment and cancellation terms with you in writing before payment. These include the services booked, any deposit and balance, payment deadlines, cancellation or change charges, and refund conditions. Terms depend on the services and arrangements for your trip; there is no single cancellation schedule for all bookings. Any relevant deadlines and time zone will be stated in your booking terms.
This page does not replace terms already agreed for an existing booking.
Cancelling or changing your booking
Email edisonchinatravel@gmail.com or contact Edison through your existing conversation. Include your booking name, service dates and what you wish to cancel or change. Please keep a copy of your request. We will acknowledge it and explain the next steps and any refund or charges under your agreed terms and applicable law.
Changes depend on availability. We will explain any price difference and revised terms before you agree to a change. Special circumstances may be discussed individually; any exception or revised arrangement will be confirmed in writing.
Third-party services
Tickets, accommodation and other services supplied by third parties may have separate cancellation or change conditions. Where we arrange them for you, we will explain the relevant conditions and any non-refundable costs before you authorise the booking and payment. We will seek available refunds or changes and explain any proposed deduction. Third-party conditions do not remove responsibilities we have under applicable law.
If we cannot provide a service
We will contact you promptly if an agreed service cannot be provided. Any alternative service or rescheduling requires your agreement. If we cancel for reasons within our control and you do not accept an alternative, we will refund payments for the services we do not provide. This does not limit any further rights you may have.
Disruption and exceptional events
Severe weather, government restrictions or other events outside either party’s reasonable control may affect a trip. We will explain the impact, discuss practical options and work to reduce avoidable loss. Changes, cancellation and refunds will be handled under the agreed booking terms and applicable law, taking account of services provided and costs that can lawfully be retained. Such events do not automatically make all payments non-refundable.
Refund process
We will confirm the refund calculation, any lawful deductions, the payment method and expected processing time in writing, and keep you informed of material delays. Bank or payment-provider processing may affect when funds reach you.
Platform bookings and your rights
Bookings made through ToursByLocals follow the platform terms and cancellation policy applicable when the booking was made. Use ToursByLocals Support to request a cancellation or refund.
Nothing in this policy or your booking terms limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.
