A private journey with time to look closer.

The Tiger Leaping Gorge High Trail is one of Yunnan's defining mountain experiences. Over two days, we walk through dramatic gorge scenery, stay at a local guesthouse and leave enough time to rest, talk and take in the landscape. The pace is considered, but this is still a genuine mountain trek requiring suitable fitness and footwear.

Active travelers comfortable with several hours on mountain paths, including uphill and downhill sections, who value scenery over speed.

Your itinerary

Day 1 · Enter the high trail

Qiaotou to Halfway Guesthouse

Early pickup from Lijiang or Shangri-La
Drive to Qiaotou and prepare for the trail
Hike the upper trail with a lunch and rest stop
Continue through the gorge at an unhurried pace
Arrive at Halfway Guesthouse for dinner and an overnight stay

Day 2 · Gorge views & descent

Halfway Guesthouse toward Teacher Zhang's

Breakfast followed by a morning start on the trail
Hike toward Teacher Zhang's Guesthouse with rest stops
Optional viewpoint depending on weather, trail conditions and energy
Descend to meet the private vehicle
Return to your Lijiang or Shangri-La accommodation

Timing and order may adjust for weather, ticket availability, local conditions and your preferred pace.

Transportation

Private transportation with a licensed local driver is included between your accommodation and the trailheads.

Meeting point

Pickup is available from hotels in Lijiang or Shangri-La. Airport or train station pickup can be discussed in advance.

Pace
